How we begin our day matters.
For years, I started my mornings in a rush—checking my phone before my eyes had even fully opened, running through to-do lists in my head before my feet hit the floor, already feeling behind before the day had begun. Sound familiar?
What I’ve come to realise is that it’s not about having a perfect morning routine. It’s about having a ritual. A moment to anchor in before the rest of the world gets a say. One that shifts your energy, your mindset, and the way you show up—not just for the day, but for your life.
These are the rituals I now return to every morning. They’ve changed how I show up as a mother, a business owner, a partner, and a woman building a life with purpose.
They might just change your day, your week, your month, and your year too.
1. Wake and Journal
Before I touch my phone, other than switching my alarm off, I move from bed to a quiet place. For me, I like to do this before the house wakes up, My alarm goes off at 4.30am and I move to the couch, I take a moment to journal.
I ask:
-
What thoughts or feelings am I waking with?
-
What’s sitting heavy?
-
Is there a story I’m carrying already?
Often, I find a familiar narrative. One that loves to show up in my mind is:
“There’s not enough time today to get everything done.”
Sound familiar?
I’ve learnt to pause and question these thoughts. They’re usually not facts. They’re beliefs—and they’re often rooted in fear (for me, it’s usually fear of not doing enough or not being enough).
So instead, I reframe it:
“There is more than enough time for what matters. I create time through clarity, focus, and presence.”
I write this out underneath my initial belief.
Once I’ve reframed the limiting belief into an empowering one, I don’t just leave it on the page. I anchor it into my nervous system — so it becomes the lens I move through the day with.
Old belief: “There’s not enough time today.”
Reframed belief: “There is more than enough time for what matters. I move with focus and presence.”
Gather 3 pieces of evidence to prove it’s already true
This is key. Your mind needs proof. So I look for moments in my life that already support this belief:
-
Yesterday, I focused deeply for 2 hours and completed something that had been lingering for weeks.
-
When I slow down, I always get more done with less stress.
-
I’ve had days where I felt spacious and calm, even with a full calendar.
This practice alone has shifted everything for me.
2. Gratitude First, Always
Next, I write down 5–10 things I’m grateful for. Some mornings it’s big things—like my kids’ laughter or the opportunities ahead. Other days it’s as simple as:
-
The smell of my coffee
-
A warm shower
-
Lights on at home when it’s still dark outside
Don’t overthink it. Just write. Gratitude trains your brain to look for good—and the more you look, the more you see.
3. Magnesium & Visualisation: Future Self Activation
I then spray Magnesium Oil on my stomach and heart area. This is my physical cue—it tells my body it’s safe, grounded, and ready to receive.
I set a 5-minute timer, put on music, close my eyes and visualise.
I connect to the version of me 2–5 years from now:
-
What does her life look like?
-
How does she feel in her body, her work, her relationships?
-
What is she proud of?
I don’t get caught in the “how”… I just sit in the feeling.
This is one of the most powerful ways to tune into what you’re really working towards.
If your mind wanders (it will), come back to the breath.
4. Hydrate & Move
Before the day sweeps me up, I hydrate with a glass of water, lemon, and sea salt. Then, I move. Sometimes it’s a walk. Sometimes it’s a full workout. Lately, I’ve been loving my reformer Pilates sessions—they help me feel strong, aligned, and ready.
Afterwards, I shower, apply our Salt Lab Magnesium Repair Cream, and start my workday with a completely different energy.
✨ Final Thoughts
My mornings aren’t about ticking boxes. They’re about honouring myself first—before the emails, the noise, the external expectations.
You don’t need to do all of this every day. Start with one or two rituals that speak to you. Make them yours. And let them grow.
Because when you begin your day with presence and intention, you don’t just get through your day—you lead it.
